Brendan Rodgers unhappy with Southampton boos for former players

• Liverpool manager ‘a wee bit sad’ at boos for Lallana and Lovren

• ‘Lallana was captain and gave incredible service to Southampton’

• Match report: Southampton 0-2 Liverpool

• Southampton lack invention to break through packed defence

• Barney Ronay: Liverpool win despite starting without a striker

Brendan Rodgers admitted he was disappointed at the reception afforded Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren on their first return to Southampton since last summer’s high-profile transfers to Liverpool, suggesting both deserved better than the chorus of boos which greeted their every touch.

The visiting manager, whose side extended their unbeaten league run to 10 matches with an impressive victory to move to within three points of third place, also bemoaned a lack of acknowledgements in the official match day programme to mark the efforts put in by Lallana, Lovren and Rickie Lambert over their time on the south coast. All three were actually referenced in the club captain Kelvin Davis’s column on page 82 of the Saints magazine, though Rodgers felt the trio merited more.

Former Maldives president detained under anti-terror law

Mohamed Nasheed recently called for the international community to consider sanctions against the island nation’s leadership

A week ago, the former president of the Maldives warned that the island nation was on a “dangerous and precarious slide” towards authoritarianism, and called on the international community to consider introducing sanctions against its leadership.

Now, days after voicing his concerns in an interview with the Guardian, Mohamed Nasheed – who says he has spent more than half of his adult life incarcerated – finds himself in detention once again under an anti-terror law, accused of using the military to arrest a senior judge during his time in office.

Can a Bitcoin-style virtual currency solve the Greek financial crisis?

Introducing a parallel currency would create money and delay Greece’s inevitable financial default. But the strategy will only work if investors believe the country won’t collapse

There’s almost no upside to a eurocrisis. You become part of a rolling maul of politicians, journalists and economists ripping and gouging at each other, both in private and on Twitter. The only advantage of being there is that it forces you to think laterally about money. Soon – if the Greek crisis is not resolved – one of the most audacious pieces of lateral thinking ever could get a try-out: a parallel digital currency, issued by the Greek government, modelled on Bitcoin, but with a crucial difference.

Ukip's health policy would include spending more on fighting dementia

Louise Bours seeks to challenge Labour in its heartland NHS policy area but her efforts are overshadowed by continued row over Ukip’s racist ‘bad apples’

Ukip would spend £130m per year on fighting dementia – £650m over the next parliament – double what the Conservatives have pledged, the party’s health spokeswoman will announce on Monday.

In a speech in Rochester – which is represented by Ukip MP Mark Reckless – MEP Louise Bours will set out the party’s health policies, steering away from Ukip’s usual focus on immigration and Britain’s membership of the EU.
