Location: Palo Alto, CA
The VMware vRealize Automation (vRA) team is looking for a senior engineer / architect to drive the evolution of the next generation of VMware's hybrid cloud management solutions. You will work with the vRA engineering team to translate this vision into a scalable product that meets the needs of VMware's large customer base. You will work on our hardest problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs.

Design and develop hybrid cloud automation features for the next generation of the vRA product
Contribute and deliver on the architectural vision for the vRA product
Interact with product managers to understand customer requirements and translate them into product features
Develop a deep understanding of cloud architectures and ensure that product performs and scales in large deployments at enterprises and service-providers
Mentor senior engineers on the team to translate the architectural vision into the product
Demonstrate periodic progress to senior management and C-level executives at VMware
Present architecture and technical advances at internal and external conferences
Apply for patents on groundbreaking work in the cloud management space
6+ years of combined experience in enterprise-scale software development
3+ years in an Architect or Staff Level Engineering role
Expert in JEE, REST/Web Services and other distributed technologies and architectures
Expert in object-oriented design for large projects
Expert in design patterns for distributed systems
Expertise in building applications for the cloud
Experience with virtualization technologies, preferably VMware vSphere
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in a geographically dispersed team
Prior experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Bachelors in Computer Science; Masters preferred
