Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:



Industry experience - minimum 10 to 15 years Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.



Knowledge and Skills Required:



Architecting:


  • Ability to understand the customer's business problem, need, or opportunity and to design an IS solution that completely and correctly addresses the business problem, need, or opportunity without unnecessary enhancements.

  • Ability to lead the architectural design, development, deployment, and technical quality of large enterprise or global solutions that span multiple technologies and disciplines.

  • Be able to provide architectural direction for multiple medium to large sized projects concurrently in various stages of their lifecycle or a large project full time.

  • Ability to maintain the integrity of the proposed architecture to assure professional quality and logical consistency in the face of political and business pressures.

  • Develops Architecture Specification deliverables that map customer business requirements into complete information systems (technologies, processes and people) or operational solutions.

  • Ability to consistently apply business management and financial concepts, capital investment, financial modeling, and general aspects of business contracts. Use this knowledge to analyze business needs and develop meaningful business recommendations.

Black Mirror isn’t really sci-fi, it’s more like now after a couple of software updates – and it’s quite terrifying

I got blocked once, by @Lord_Sugar as it happens. I’m not sure why, maybe he saw me as a threat, in business. It wasn’t actually too upsetting, but then I wasn’t in a relationship with him – hardly knew him at all, to be honest. And he only blocked me on Twitter, not in real life, as people can do here sometime in the future, in Charlie Brooker’s Black Mirror: White Christmas (Channel 4). So they can’t see you or hear you, nor you them: you’re both just muffled silhouettes, digital ghosts. That’s what happens to poor Joe (Rafe Spall).


It’s typical – and typically brilliant – Black Mirror. Brooker takes something that’s already here, like blocking, and pushes it forward in time. Not too far though, more of a nudge than a shove, so that his dystopia isn’t outrageous, it’s plausible, and all the more terrifying for it. Less sci-fi, more like now after a couple of software updates.

Like every parent of children with special educational needs, today’s announcement by the government of £31m extra special needs (SEN) funding for local authorities gives me hope that things will improve. But, as yet, it’s unclear what the government’s reforms will mean for our family. We have four children with additional needs: our eldest, Olivia, 20, has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyspraxia and is studying drama at university; Talia, 13, has Asperger’s and dyscalculia; Imogen, 8, has autism including Tourette’s; while our adopted son, who is five years old, has attachment difficulties.


We didn’t realise they had issues until they went to nursery. Imogen loved to crawl into small spaces and squeeze faces, Talia wouldn’t eat foods if they had touched each other, Olivia walked and wrote backwards and my son would break things and not join in sitting down.

Qualifications
